Short of breath anxiety
One of the most common symptoms of anxiety is shortness of breath. You feel like you cannot get
any air and that you are suffocating or smothering. Your heart begins to race then you become
even more over anxious and you start taking faster and shorter breaths. This does not allow
enough air to get into the lungs. Which causes an adrenaline rush and can make you feel dizzy
or like you are going to faint. If you suffer from anxiety shortness of breath the first thing you need
to know is that breathing too fast and too shallow deprives your body of the oxygen that it needs.
This can make your anxiety attack even worse.
Anyone who has suffered from shortness of breath due to an anxiety attack knows just how scary
it can be. The most important thing to do in this situation is to deal with your breathing. You need
to focus on taking slower and deeper breaths. Do this by taking in slow deep breaths through your
nose and releasing it through your mouth slowly. Another method is to try and hold your breath.
This forces your body to want to breathe again. You should practice these relaxing techniques on a regular basis several times a day when you are not having an anxiety attack. This way if you do become over anxious and become short of breath you can use these methods to calm yourself.
The majority of people do not breathe correctly, especially people with anxiety. Learning how to breathe correctly is the most important thing you can do when having an anxiety attack. Trying
to figure out what is triggering the anxiety is one way to get to the bottom it. Maybe it is job related
or something else in your personal life that is so stressful that it is bringing on more stress than you can handle. Shortness of breath due to anxiety is a sign of serious stress in your life. You may need to make some fundamental changes in your life to relieve the over whelming stress and anxiety. If you feel you still cannot control your breathing and anxiety you should consult your doctor, especially
if you are having increased anxiety and shortness of breath. You may need to be treated with medication or another form of treatment to help you get through these attacks. Just remember
you are not alone, there are many people who face this every day.
